ICC 20-20 world cup
West Indies has won the fourth ICC twenty-20 world cup held in Srilanka. on 7-10-12. West Indies defeated host Srilanka by 36 runs. afterwinning the toss and batting first on spinning wicket west indies posted a moderate total of 137 for six wickets in 20 overs. ajanta mendis has done a good job and conceeded only 12 runs in his 4 overs and taken 4 wickets. but merlon samuals played a dream innings of 78 runs in just 55 balls.
In reply Srilanka failed to handle the pressure to be the first host team to won the 20-20 world cup. the got all out for mere 101 runs and lost the match by 36 runs. captain Mahela Jayawardene make 33 runs but oyher batsmen failed to deleiver. west Indian spinner Sunil naraine took 3 wickets for 9 runs and captain deren Sammy took 2 wickets.
This is west indies teams first major title after winning the first two 50 over world cups in 1975 and 1979.
