IN THE MONTH OF JULY 2013



1.         SUGATHA KUMARI was conferred with Saraswati Samman 2012 for her collection of poems in Malayalam, Manalezhuthu,  which means The writing on the sand in English.



2.         RUNA LAILA, the SAARC Goodwill Ambassador for HIV/AIDS visited India. The objective of the visit was support to the cause of HIV/AIDS.






3.         Mamnoon Hussain  was elected as the 12th PRESIDENT of Pakistan on 30 july 2013. 73 year old Mamnoon Hussain belonged to the PML-N Party.


4.     India defeated NEPAL 1-0 in the final to lift the South Asian Football Federation Under-16 Championship title.


5.         Sarod maestro AMJAD ALI KHAN was choosen  for the 21st Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavna Award.


6.         India’s Weather sattelite INSAT-3D was launched successfully on 26th July 2013 from KOUROU. French Guiana.


7.  Paradip Port was conferred with the MAJOR PORT OF THE YEAR award for its excellent performance in the year 2012-2013.



8. World Hepatitis Day observed on 28TH  JULY 2013 across the World. In May 2010 the World Health Assembly passes resolution to mark Hepatitis day.



9.   PARADIP PORT  was conferred with the MAJOR PORT OF THE YEAR award for its excellent performance in the year 2012-13 in Chennai.


10.         INDIA and BELARUS signed a protocol on 24th July 2013 to enhance trade ties during the sixth session of the Inter-Government Commission held in NEW DELHI.


11.         PRINCE PHILIPPE was sworn-in as the new king of Belgium on 21st July 2103 after the abdiction of his father Albert II  due to his age and health.


12.   India finished at fourth Positionin the Archery World Cup Stage-3 on 21st July 2013 with DEEPIKA KUMARI winning Gold and Bronze medal.


13.        SERENA WILLIAMS on 21st July 2013 won Swedish Open title by defeating Johanna Larson in the final of the Swedish Open at Bastad in Sweden.


14.        Earthquake of magnitude 6.9 and 5.2 on Richter scale struck WELLINGTON, NEW ZEALAND and KHYBER PAKHTUNKHWA province of PAKISTAN, respectively.


15.        South Korean city of Incheon was named as the WORLD BOOK CAPITAL for the year 2015 as per UNESCO announcement.


16.   The world on 18th JULY  observed the Nelson Mandela International Day. The day is observed  to inspire people to be an agent of change.


17.   The  President of India on 19th July 2013 administered the oath of the office of Chief Justice of India (CJI) to Justice PALANISAMY SATHASIVAM.








 18.        India’s number one snooker player, ADITYA MEHTA on 31st July 2013 clinched  the gold  medal in the World Games, beating China’s Liang Wenbo, 3-0, in thefinal of the quadrennial event at Cali, Columbia. Aditya Mehta hails from Mumbai.
