The 2013 US Open was a tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts. It was the 133rd edition of the US Open, the fourth and final Grand Slam event of the year. It took place at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, and ran from August 26 to September 9.
Andy Murray and Serena Williams were the defending champions in the singles events. Williams successfully defended her title, but Murray was defeated in the quarterfinals by Stanislas Wawrinka. Rafael Nadal won the men's singles.

Leander Paes created history by winning the doubles at the age of 40. not a single man has won any grandslam title at this ripe age. Only Martina Navratilova has won titles  after the age of 40.

Hyderabad hotdhots shuts Avadha warriors by 3 games to 2 to win the first ibl trophy. Saina won her eights match of the tournament by beating sindhu again in straight sets. Hyderabad won a doubles after conceeding the first match to avadh  in men's single . In the last match jairam of Hyderabad beats dutt of avadh in three sets

Haji Ghulam Rasool Dar 110 years of age of Kashmir had successful surgery for stomach cancer treatment. he was operated in Apollo hospital, Delhi. Dr Sameer Kaul said Haji has no complications regarding age based ailments. He told-Age is no bar to undergo surgery. If There is willpower and  support of the family, one can survive  anything.
He wants to go home as early as possible.

INDIA beat  Malaysia 2-0 in the semifinal of Asia cup and qualify for world cup hockey. India need to stay ahead of Pakistan in the tournament and when South Korea beat Pakistan in the other semifinal India passed the qualification mark.

 

 

Now India will class with South Korea for the Asia cup Title on 1-9-13, Sunday.

Aron Finch's remarkable 156, the highest score in a Twenty20 international, was the cornerstone of Australia's 39-run win in the first T20 against England at Southampton on Thursday 29-8-13. 

The 26-year-old Victoria opener, who didn't feature in the preceding 3-0 Ashes Test series loss to England, struck a record 14 sixes in his 63-ball innings as Australia made 248 for six -- the second-highest T20 international team score .
England responded with their own second-best Twenty20 score, 209 for six, but even Joe Root's unbeaten 90 failed to give them any real hope of victory.

LAND BILL CLEARS IN LOK SABHA

29-8-13. NEW DELHI (INDIA).
 The Loksabha on Thursday  passed the controversial land bill, giving a government battered by stinging criticism over the economy's poor run something to cheer about.
The Key Features are :
CONSENT : 80% landowners must okay land acquisition for  private projects, 70% in case of public private projects.
COMPENSATION : four times market value in rural areas, double in urban areas.
EMERGENCY CLAUSE : Govt can't use clause arbitrarily to acquire land in short time.


MOST WANTED TERRORIST YASIN BHATKAL TRAPPED IN POKHARA (NEPAL)

Most wanted criminal and accused of several bomb attacks IM terrorist Yasin Bhatkal was arrested in Nepal. A reliable informer gave Indian officials  on Bhatkal's where abouts and a phone Number for him. Bhatkal's phone was trapped for few weeks and IB passed information to the Nepal Police, who tracked him to Pokhara. 
 Bhatkal's right hand  Asadullah Akhtar also known as Haddi, was also nabbed in the same house.
Earlier LET Bombmaker Abdul karim Tunda was also arrested by officials.


SCIENTISTS GROW BRAIN IN LAB

In a major successful  work, scientists in London has grown the first  mini Human Brain in a Laboratory. This could lead to new levels of understanding about the way brain develop.. But the research team said the work was  a very long  way from  growing a fully functioning  human brain in laboratory.

SAINA AND SINDHU TO CLASH FOR IBL TROPHY

All eyes are again on a golden clash. India's top two woman Badminton players will clash for the inaugural IBL trophy. Avadhe warriors beat Mumbai Masters 3-2 to advance in the Final to have a clash with Hydrabad Hotshots.

  Earlier Hyderabad Hotshots stormed into the finals of the inaugural Indian Badminton League (IBL) 3-0 in the first semi-finals against Pune Pistons at the GMC Balayogi indoor stadiumon 28-8-13.

The Final will be played on August 31 (Saturday) at 8PM in Mumbai.

1 The Orphan Master’s son won the Pulitzer for fiction. The Orphan Master's Son is a 2012 novel by American author Adam Johnson. It deals with intertwined themes of propaganda, identity and state power in North Korea.




2. India  origin Economist Raj Chetty won John Bates Clark Medal for 2013. Raj Chetty, an economist at Harvard University, has won the 2013 John Bates Clark Medal, a laurel considered by many economists to be second only to the Nobel Prize.




3. Sujatha Singh, currently ambassador to Germany   was appointed India’s next Foreign secretary on 3rd July 2013. She assumed office on 1 August, 2013 succeeding Ranjan Mathai.





4. Britain’s Chris Froome was crowned champion of the 100th edition of Tour de Frannce  on 22nd July 2013. Christopher Froome (born 20 May 1985) is a Kenyan-born British professional road racing cyclist and winner of the 2013 Tour de France, riding for UCI ProTeam Team Sky. Brought up in Kenya and South Africa, he has ridden since 2008 under a British licence on the basis of his passport and his father and grandparents' country of birth.




5. C.P. Srivastave (Chandrika Prasad Srivastava) who was conferred with the Padma Vibhushan in 2009 and the Padma Bhushan in 1972 has died on 22nd July 2013 in  Italy.





6. L. Brojeshori Devi, the Olympian Judo player passed away at Coimbatore on 22nd July 2013. She was 32 years of age.









7. ILO association and Moon Express would start world’s first mission to south pole of the Moon for installation of a permanent  telescope.



8. The book entitled An Agenda for India’s growth Essays in honour of P Chidambaram, was released in New Delhi on 31st July 2013.






9. Nirupama Sanjeev Vaidyanathan, the former female tennis player from India on 5th August 2013 released her book-The Moonballer. The book was released by Tennis ace Vijay Amritraj in Chennai.




10. Russian Tennis player Maria Sharapova topped the Rorbes list of highest-paid female athletes for the ninth straight year.
